Spon End and Chapelfields Heritage Pub TrailOne mile, 14 pubs, 300 years. The 'Golden Mile' from St John's Church to the top of Craven Street contains the oldest and the best pubs in Coventry. This guide will take you from pub to pub, and tell you all you need to know for a good night, day or week out.
Spon Street is one of Coventry's oldest thoroughfares and was once the
main highway carrying stage coaches from London to Shrewsbury. The pubs
along Spon End and Spon Street were popular with travellers and many had
rooms to rent. The high density of pubs in Chapelfields originates from
the area's historic association with watchmaking.
