The Four Provinces has recently been awarded the title of 'Best Pub of the Year' by www.irishbandslive.co.uk and is probably Coventry's best known genuine Irish bar.

The Four Provinces is also home to Coventry's only dedicated ice hockey bar - The Blaze Bar.

History

The Four Provinces is one of the newest drinking establishments in the area. Formerly a watchmaker's house (known as Craven Lodge), the '4Ps' opened for business on Good Friday 1965 and was run by a commitee consisting of Mick Geraghty, Noel Staunton, Tom Noone, Chris Kelly, Andy Murray, Roger Gill, Gerry Grant and Les Grant. It began as an Irish club catering for the city's growing Irish population, many of whom lived in the immediate area. Jack Connolly, manager for 23 years, ran the 4Ps until his death in 1988. Jack was succeeded by Ted and Maureen Flannelly who purchased the club in 1989. Lizzie Flannelly took over from her late father, and current manager Kieran Connolly started in 1996.
